We get asked quite often if we’re allowed to hunt any of the properties we have listed. The answer is yes! This isn’t applicable to every property but there are many that we have permission to hunt. We enjoy this for a couple of reasons. The first is that we get to hunt and spend time in the field…which is a no-brainer! The second is that we gain a more intimate knowledge of the property. Most of our clients are hunters seeking hunting properties and there is no better way to familiarize yourself with a property than to hunt it and take in a few sunrises.
A great example of this is Bryan DeHart, who is not only a broker with our team of dedicated land specialists, but also a partner. He was granted permission to hunt one of his prime listings, a 120 acre property in Nash County. While showing the property a couple of weeks ago he heard a few gobblers sound off. Bryan had a good idea of where these toms were roosted so when the time was right he put his plan into action. He actually walked right into the bedroom of 5 roosted gobblers that morning. One in particular, though, was hammering it. The gobbler responded to every squawk, squeak, chirp, and hoot he heard. Bryan made a few soft yelps on a glass call and got an instant response. A few minutes later he heard the birds begin to pitch down from the tree tops. He decided to make a few more soft yelps with a diaphragm call. Soon after that the tom was in range. He pulled the trigger.
